What is Veritas Cyber?
Veritas Cyber is a self-assessment and document-generation tool for Australian small businesses. You answer plain-English questions about your own security controls, and it produces an indicative Essential Eight maturity snapshot, a policy pack, a remediation roadmap, and a broker-ready evidence pack. It is not a certification, audit, scanner, or monitoring service, and it is not legal or insurance advice.
How long does the assessment take?
About 20 minutes. The free self-assessment walks through the eight controls plus a short set of insurance and privacy questions. Your progress saves in your browser, so you can leave and come back.
Do I need an account to see my score?
No. You can complete the free self-assessment and see your indicative maturity snapshot without an account. You only create an account when you want to generate documents.
I clicked the sign-in link but nothing happened.
Magic-link sign-in emails should take you straight to your dashboard. If a link fails, request a fresh one from the sign-in page — links are single-use and expire. If it still fails, email support@veritas-cyber.com.

Documents & plans

What documents do I get?
On a paid plan you can generate an Essential Eight Evidence Pack (with a cyber-insurance readiness checklist), an Incident Response Plan, a Remediation Roadmap, and a set of security policies (Information Security, Access Control, Patch Management, Backup & Recovery, Acceptable Use) — all generated from your self-assessment answers. The Pro plan adds the Privacy Act module (Privacy & Data Security Statement, Data Breach Response Plan, Personal Information Inventory) and an AI Use Policy.
How much does it cost?
The self-assessment and maturity snapshot are free. Starter is $99 AUD per month (or $990 per year) and unlocks the full document pack. Pro is $199 AUD per month (or $1,990 per year) and adds the Privacy Act and AI modules. A one-time Compliance Pack is also available. All prices are in AUD and you can cancel any time.
Can I cancel or change my plan?
Yes. Manage or cancel your subscription any time from the billing page, which opens the Stripe billing portal. If you cancel, you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.
My payment failed — what happens?
Stripe automatically retries a failed payment over about two weeks, and we email you so you can update your card from the billing page. Your access continues during that grace period.

Data & privacy

What data do you store about me?
We practise data minimalism. For the free assessment your answers stay in your browser; if you ask us to email your snapshot we store your email and the level summary only. With an account we store your email, basic business details, and your self-reported answers and results — the minimum needed to generate your documents. We never collect credentials, never scan your systems, and never store your customers’ data. See the Trust page for detail.
Do you scan my network or systems?
No. Nothing is installed on your devices and we never connect to, probe, or monitor your network. The product works entirely from your own self-reported answers.

Partners

I am a broker or MSP — can I manage several clients?
Yes. Turn on partner mode from the Partners area to manage multiple client organisations from one account, see each client’s self-assessed maturity, and share a co-branded assessment link. You can record an assessment on a client’s behalf or send them your link to complete themselves.
What is the co-branded assessment link?
It is a link to the free self-assessment that shows your business name to the client. Leads that come through it are tagged to you, so you can see which clients have engaged.

Framework

Is the Essential Eight being retired?
The Australian Signals Directorate announced in June 2026 that the Essential Eight will evolve into a new multi-chapter framework called the Essentials series, staged over roughly two years. The current Essential Eight Maturity Model remains in force throughout, and existing work carries across. We track the transition so your assessment stays current.
What maturity level should I aim for?
Level 2 is the common target for small businesses and is what many Australian insurers look for. Your overall level is set by your weakest control, so closing your lowest-scoring gaps first is usually the fastest way to raise it.
